Mediterranean Flyways

Cranes are one of the several bird species using the Mediterranean flyway between their breeding and wintering grounds.

The overall aim of the Mediterranean flyway project is to address the key threats to migratory birds in the Mediterranean region by strengthening a dynamic and self- sustaining network of NGOs working with key stakeholders for the coordinated, sustainable and effective implementation of conservation action in the region. BirdLife International coordinates the project, and Doğa is the partner of this international project in Turkey. Activities in the project include conservation of key sites, supporting development of local conservation groups, data synthesis on illegal hunting and reducing the impact of energy infrastructure like collision mortality and electrocution on migratory birds. The partners of the project in Turkey include Nature Culture and Life Society in Urfa and Hatay Nature Conservation Society.
